Hainanese Chicken Rice
Hainanese Chicken Rice is a Hainanese hawker dish loved across Singapore. Here is what it is, what to order and where to try it, starting at Maxwell Food Centre.
What is Hainanese Chicken Rice?
Hainanese immigrants brought the Wenchang chicken tradition. In Singapore it gained fragrant rice cooked in chicken stock, chilli and ginger, and became a national favourite. Hainanese Chicken Rice is part of Singapore's hawker culture, recognised by UNESCO in 2020 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
