Lor Mee
Lor Mee is a Hokkien hawker dish loved across Singapore. Here is what it is, what to order and where to try it, starting at Hainanese Village Centre, Hougang.
What is Lor Mee?
Thick yellow noodles in a dark, starchy gravy thickened with egg, topped with braised pork, fried fish, egg and crispy fritters. Black vinegar and raw garlic cut through the richness. Lor Mee is part of Singapore's hawker culture, recognised by UNESCO in 2020 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
