Roti John

Roti John is a Singapore hawker dish loved across Singapore. Here is what it is, what to order and where to try it, starting at Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre.

What is Roti John?

A long baguette fried with minced meat, onion and egg, then topped with chilli sauce and mayo. It is said to have been created in Singapore in the 1970s, named after a British customer called John. Roti John is part of Singapore's hawker culture, recognised by UNESCO in 2020 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
