Ayam Penyet
Ayam Penyet is a Indonesian hawker dish loved across Singapore. Here is what it is, what to order and where to try it, starting at Our Tampines Hub.
What is Ayam Penyet?
Penyet means smashed. Fried chicken is pressed flat with a pestle so the fiery sambal soaks in, served with tofu, tempeh, cabbage and rice. Ayam Penyet is part of Singapore's hawker culture, recognised by UNESCO in 2020 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
