Mala Xiang Guo
Mala Xiang Guo is a Sichuan hawker dish loved across Singapore. Here is what it is, what to order and where to try it, starting at People's Park Food Centre, Chinatown.
What is Mala Xiang Guo?
Mala xiang guo means "numbing, spicy, fragrant pot". You pick your own vegetables, meats and seafood, and they are stir-fried with dried chillies and Sichuan peppercorns. It became a big hawker trend in the 2010s. Mala Xiang Guo is part of Singapore's hawker culture, recognised by UNESCO in 2020 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
