Fried Carrot Cake

Fried Carrot Cake is a Teochew hawker dish loved across Singapore. Here is what it is, what to order and where to try it, starting at Bukit Timah Interim Food Centre.

What is Fried Carrot Cake?

Radish cake cut into cubes and fried with egg and chai poh, preserved radish. It is served white and crispy, or black with sweet dark sauce. Bukit Timah's food centre opened in 1975 and its carrot cake has fans across the island. Fried Carrot Cake is part of Singapore's hawker culture, recognised by UNESCO in 2020 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
